+Dones 3: Science, Talent and Technology

+Dones³ is a municipal project launched in 2019 with the goal of reducing the gender gap in STEAM fields in Esplugues de Llobregat.

Objectives

To encourage scientific and technological vocations among girls (from the age of 7) and women, aiming to close the existing gender gap in these professional fields and to foster a positive attitude towards choosing science-related studies and careers.
To promote empowerment and the acquisition of digital skills from a gender perspective among women active in the labor market.
To give visibility to nationally and internationally recognized female scientists and innovators, and to demystify scientific work as an exclusively male domain.
To create new role models for future generations of young female scientists. All activities will be led by professional women from the science and technology sectors.

The educational community: through talks and activities in schools, the goal is to highlight women’s contributions to the history of scientific thought and to provide students with positive female role models in non-traditional fields.
Girls, young women, and adult women: through free STEAM workshops that introduce participants to the world of robotics, digital manufacturing, electronics, and programming. These workshops aim to foster positive attitudes toward science and technology as potential professional futures.

Awareness-raising on the gender gap in STEAM for 2,904 people, including 1,718 girls and women.
204 girls and women trained in STEAM skills.
Participation of 21 schools in the project.
Participation of 30 girls in STEAM girls’ camps focused on digital fabrication and programming.
Empowerment of 52 professional women by improving their digital skills through digital transformation programs.
47.2 % of the participating girls were oriented towards STEAM vocations after the activities.

DonaTIC (meaning WomanTIC) 2023 Award from the Generalitat de Catalunya, as the best benchmark initiative by an Institution.
